Does anyone know if that silver colored metal cover is cosmetic or structural? I was at a dealer today and the sales girl didn't know and they wouldn't let me take it off. The left side is the one I'm concerned with. Is it just covering something up? It had a small bit of play to it. If I can remove it or modify it, I would be able to flip the connector to the transmission and convert to bike over to the GP shift pattern. Right now that cover prevents the connector rod from moving back.
