Thanks for the recommendation. I won't have a chance to play with this for a week (headed your way to London for a few days). I'll see what I can work out when I get back.
Turns out that the right side bar end is acting like a throttle lock. I won't have a chance to try to fix it for a week or so. I'm not sure yet if or how I'll be able to solve it.
I was referring to this stuff that's going on around it: California DMV joins motorcycle lane-splitting controversy - LA Times
I do think the mirrors improve visibility. I had a hard time seeing behind me with stocks - even with my left elbow tucked. Much better field of view with the arrows.
There's a guy in the UK that sells mirror blanking plugs that should work. Here's a US ebay listing:
Mirror Blanking Plugs Pair Yamaha FZ1 Fazer XJR | eBay
I've confirmed that our mirror bolt holes are M10 x 1.25. You need to order this specific kit that has one right hand and one left hand...
Working on this. The FZ-09 folks have a thread on it:
what caps to cover mirror holes???
Tried a couple of things yesterday that didn't work out. I'm going to take another run at it today. Worse case is just to plasti-dip or paint a couple of bolts.
Thank you! This wasn't obvious to me. I've done it now and it allows the mirrors to be mounted in the position I originally preferred.
This is true. As far as I know, lane filtering (which is called "lane splitting" here) is only allowed in California. Even there, it's controversial. Doesn't...
You folks weren't much help :)
I went ahead and ordered the parts. The bar mounts fit perfectly and mirror visibility is much better than with stock mirrors.
A couple of installation notes:
- The stock bar ends were not tightened well at all on my bike. I removed them by hand and with near...
I'm looking at installing CRG bar end mirrors - probably these: CRG - Constructors Racing Group
I've read that FZ-09 owners have used Rhino mounts. Anyone know if they'll work on an FZ-07? The part is: Rhino Motorcycle Products
The question is really about whether our not the existing bar end...
Also wanted to add that this Pit Bull stand (also available directly from Pit Bull) has swappable supports and works with spooled and unspooled bikes. I've used this stand with the OES spools on the FZ-07 - works great. Haven't tried it on the FZ-07 with swing arm supports but it should work...
An alternative is to buy something like the Spool-Sliders halfway down this page:
Yamaha FZ-07 Frame Sliders
I have them mounted on my FZ-07.
R&G sells an equivalent product in Europe:
Yamaha MT-07 '14- Spindle Sliders SS0042BK
I may find myself in London for a few days at the end of this month. Here, in the US, there is a dearth of MT-07/FZ-07 accessories - the PUIG, Givi, etc. stuff that's available for order in Europe hasn't made its way into the US market yet.
I'm tempted to import a couple of accessories in my...
Has anyone successfully installed a Flash2Pass (Open your garage door with your SmartPhone or headlight highbeam Flash2Pass) transmitter on an MT-07 / FZ-07? The headlamp wiring is confusing and I'm not sure what leads to tap into.
Thanks.
