I've ridden since July (2000 miles) with the baffle out. No little furry animals or old grannies have been harmed.
All this "baffle out will lead to the end of the world" stuff is nonsense. It's noisy but manageable. If I need to be quiet as I'm home late or whatever, I just chug down my road...
I would imagine that a naked bike would need 100 bhp or more to achieve 140mph.
I had a Speed Triple with a claimed power output of 130bhp and I'm sure the claimed top speed of that was only 150 mph or so.
yamaha mt 07 top speed 212kmh - YouTube
212kph on a standard bike. 131mph. Faster than I thought but 5bhp will still not account for another 18kph.

I think the point of a dyno test is to measure power and torque, not top speed.
I have never seen a quoted top speed for a bike or car that has been measured on a dyno.
You can also work out the gear ratios top speed by working out its distance and speed per 1000 rpm of the engine. I haven't...
143mph in 5th? These bikes do 125mph ish top speed. With a 5bhp increase, that may increase to what? 127mph, 128mph?
143mph is the top speed of the 5th gear ratio, nothing else.
There is no wind resistance on the dyno. All you are seeing is the gear ratio's top speed, not the speed the bike will actually achieve.

Hi, I think a vast majority of the "problem" is with the rubber brake hoses, they expand under harder braking which gives the front brake a slightly spongy feel and leads to it requiring quite a lot of force to brake hard. I might put a set of HEL braided steel hoses on at some stage. A £70...
The bike's total weight is transferred to the road via the wheels. Therefore all of the weight goes through the shocks. It is true to say that most of the weight (of the bike, not the rider) is pulling on the shock rather than pushing on it (as with a car), due to the weight being carried lower...
I've bought a demonstrator. It had 850 miles on it when I rode it, I would assume that most people who took it out gave it some stick, I certainly did. There were no odd or rattly noises from anywhere and no trace of oil smoke when cold or warm, I checked carefully as i intended on buying it...
Yeah thanks for the welcome, I'll post the pics as soon as I can.
I loved my SV (T87 DGT), I did 22000 miles in just over two years on it (didn't own a car at the time), including 6 weeks around Spain and France (what a trip). The other bikes I've owned didn't get used nearly as much (probably...
Without meaning to stir up a hornets nest, is there actually a need for an oiling system on a modern chain, especially with the quality of the dry PTFE chain lubricants out there?
I remember reading somewhere that modern chains have sealed in lubricants where lubricant is needed, therefore, any...
