Sequential Indicators - Help

Hi there,

Apologies if this isn't the right place to post a query like this or if my question is a bit dense.

I recently bought sequential indicators (running turn signals) to replace my old LED ones. There must already be a 3-pin relay tucked away somewhere since the previous owner installed them.

However, when I connect them up only one LED in each indicator comes on. After reading online I keep seeing this being said:

"Assuming your bike had a 3 pin flasher relay, remove it. The 1st pin is the live feed, the 2nd pin is from the switch and the 3rd pin is earth.

You just need to bridge the live feed and the switch together - forget about the earth.

You can fit an in-line fuse, but it's usually not necessary."

Would anyone be able to shed some light on what is meant by this? Was hoping someone with a bit more expertise could help before I go digging around in the back of my nice bike.

Any help is much appreciated! :)
