Horn failing intermittently

Hey guys,

During the last several days I noticed that the horn sometimes fail to emit any sound. It started as occasional failures where I had to press the button twice.
Now on the last ride it didn't beep at all.
Today I disconnected the horn, tested the voltage and it was fine at 12v. Connected the horn back and voila - the horn beeps every time now
I am worried the issue may come back at the worst possible moment and keen to fix this permanently.

Is it most likely the horn or the electrical system of the bike?

Could have been the connections and by removing them it as cleaned the contact and now it works.
They are well placed to collect any crud chucked up by the front wheel and joke mudguard.
