Disc / Loose Washer Behind Throttle Grip?

Taking my 2016 MT07 for its first 600 mile service next week and meaning to ask them about a loose washer / disc that moves around behind the throttle grip.
I presume it shouldn't be like this? Should it be attached to something? It would be useful to know before I speak to the garage.

Many thanks,

Jon

It's too stop the grip catching the top of the housing and sticking open

Yes, it's deliberately like that, it's a low friction material to kind of provide 'lubrication' between the rubber grip, and the throttle housing. Allows the throttle to always snap closed when you release it.

In fact there should always be enough of a gap between the two to not need this, but if you were to drop the bike or something, and the grip got pushed towards the housing, it could stick open if the rubber was shoved up against the metal. It's an extra safety thing.
