Alternate foot positions?

Ok, don't laugh...I'm wondering whether anyone has ever put highway pegs or (something similar which provides a 'foot forward' seating position) on a sportbike?
I've googled it not seen much, but I figure there must be other folks with my particular issue:

I've been doing a little touring on the MT....nothing too hectic, around 500-700kms/day. Most of the setup I have is just fine for touring (screen, hand-guards, heated grips etc) but I'm really battling with the seating position. Not so much the saddle which gives me about 2 hours of comfort before I need to walk around, but the actual position.
Long before my butt goes numb, my hips and knees are cramping up. I've taken to resting my legs out straight on my frame sliders at times, but it doesn't feel too secure...
I've gotten some aftermarket rider's pegs, and lowered the peg position about 14mm, which has helped a little.

Any ideas other than 'buy a touring bike'?
I've considered getting a bellypan and using the mounts to rig something up, or possibly an engine 'cage' which could provide mounting space for something to put my feet on up front.

Cheers
Grant

Do you need a higher seat? Perhaps a seat pad of some sort to raise it? I am experimenting with a pad at the moment but that's aimed mainly at making it thicker and so softer.

That could help - I have been thinking about it - looking at the Airhawk at the moment after using one previously on a Supermoto...it's good for comfort, but prob doesn't add much height.

On my Guzzi I fitted a gel insert pad underneath the vinyl seat cover. I first had to remove the cover, then sculpt out a pocket from the seat foam using a very sharp knife, so that it was the same shape as the gel pad. Slot the gel pad into the newly formed pocket and reassemble. Overall seat height was thus unchanged. I got the pad from DanMedicaSouth :-

DebbonAir® Deluxe Gel Seat Pads & Covers - Exterior Fitting

It transformed the comfort and enabled me to ride for over 2 hours without a numb bum. Overall seat height was thus unchanged.

Alternatively, these guys will do it for you (at a price) Motorcycle seat specialists in Sevenoaks from Viking Vinyl

I am experimenting with 10mm thick neoprene foam sheet. A few if those under the Airhawk might do it?

I have a pad made from a double layer of sheepskin, with elastic to hook around the seat.

Rather disappointingly, it doesn't actually make a lot of difference comfort-wise, in fact just makes me slide around a bit more than usual, so I don't use it.

I probably agree with you sdrio going to be impossible to ride anything in a few years if I get cramp now haha

I have the comfort seat, but even then 2 hours is enough for me. I have done 6+ hours in a day and with a reasonable amount of stops it was no problem.

Lowering the pegs..... I think they scratch the ground so easy in their current placement, I'd hate to have them any lower.

Since I have changed the pegs I haven't managed to scrape anything recently. The new peg has no scrappy thing which is probably why.

I don't mind the seat, however I haven't really ridden anything else for long enough to compare.

My pad is 20mm thick so far. It gives extra support to the sit bones. It adds softness and bans numb bum, tested up to 3 hours.

That may well work!
Alternately a wrap of neoprene around my frame sliders so that my boots don't slip off...gives me the space to stretch out the knees and hips!
