Suh doo! From the Valley of the Sun

Lean over when cornering? Dunno - was there something specific? Nothing will teach you more than getting out there and riding it.

    Happy Christmas Everyone

Wishing you all a good one. And don't mix that MT07 and the booze chaps.

The differance between long and short exhausts

Taking the baffles out will have much more effect than the size of the pipe. My R1 has a huge can on it, and sounds pretty unremarkable with the baffles in. Take them out and it's like all the Norse gods have got together for a farting contest.

    Bye-Bye MT07

I'm looking at the baby Multistrada. It has a 950 engine, so slightly more practical as a commuter. I'm not quite convinced it's small enough for traffic, and also Ducati haven't got a sterling reputation for reliability, but I'm possibly going to get overruled by how good it looks. One thing...

Maybe I shouldn't do it then - they say you should never meet your heroes, it'd be a shame to finally get on a 900r and find out it was shit!

It's a joke. Old people look out of the window at the shops roads and houses, and say 'I remember when all this was fields', as in before everything around them was built. I guess it's the UK equivalent of 'Pepperidge farm remembers', and if you don't get that, I give up . . .!

    Front Forks

I've done it myself, once I answered a thread that I had already answered a year before.

10/10 for optimism, the last post in that thread was more than 2 years ago!

Something to check as our bikes reach 2 years old and beyond.

Have to say, while most service schedules do call for brake fluid changes at this kind of interval, I have rarely ever changed brake fluid on a bike. If I do, I'll normally just pump new stuff through, without emptying the system. If the brakes work, I just roll with it.

The GPz900r has been on my 'todo' list for most of my biking life. I was seriously looking for one earlier this year, but there only seem to be tatty basket cases around now, and I want one that at least is road legal. I bought an R1 instead, but I reckon one day the right bike is going to...

Head bearings. Apparently these as fitted in the factory to the MT07 are of the same kind of standard as the rest of the bike, and don't last as far as you'd expect them to. There have been a few cases of them being replaced under warranty, for the lucky few people whose warranties were...

    Further riding Qualifications

Just an update on this creaky old thread - I passed my advanced test on Wednesday, managed to blag a first too. Can thoroughly recommend doing it, I started it with 32 years of riding under my belt, but I still learned an awful lot. You get to meet a lot of other bikers too, which is good...

Well this section needs a first post...

OK, as this one has resurfaced, back to the Fizzie tips. What I learned on a cold November night in 1983. Or thereabouts. The following is a bad idea. 5 or 6 of us had just got mopeds, and one of them (let's call him Darren) only managed to get a Garelli Bimatic, which has dynamo powered...

hello from new member, and thinking of taking the plunge.

To be honest, you could buy a tatty 125 and probably insure it for less than you'd pay to hire one. If you get something Japanese, about 5 years old or so, you'll sell it for almost as much as you pay for it. YBR or CBF 125s are solid and reliable, if not very exciting. Definitely go for a...

hello from new member, and thinking of taking the plunge.

It's certainly not a case of discouraging you from doing it - I'm 50 in a couple of weeks, and I'm not the oldest person posting here. I think it's a great age to be riding bikes. Simple facts. The risks you face are the same ones that a 17 year old faces. You lack experience, and that is...

    I just bought a brand new 2016 mt-07!!!

It takes about 2-3,000 miles to really loosen up. The first service won't make much difference, they just change the oil and filter to make sure any stray bits of metal from new castings etc are removed. As far as breaking in goes, there are opposing opinions, some say you should spank the...

Anyone encountered and fixed corrosion issues like these?

The problem with those pipes is they are painted with some really thin laquer like stuff. You can't remove the discolouration, it's damaged paint. It needs rubbing back to metal and repainting.

Anyone encountered and fixed corrosion issues like these?

The pipes seem to be a common problem. I heard some were repainted under warranty. The position of them is always going to make them vulnerable. Probably better to have them powder coated. The finish on the MT07 is cheap. There are quite a few places prone to corrosion. I keep mine plastered...
